Self-proclaimed Godman Claims India is Already a Hindu Rashtra

Guwahati: Dhirendra Krishna Shastri, a self-proclaimed godman associated with Bageshwar Dham in Uttarakhand, made a controversial statement on Wednesday that India is already a Hindu Rashtra, and it only needs an official announcement. He made these remarks during a media interaction in Guwahati, Assam, where he was visiting the Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Shastri informed the media that he had met with the Chief Minister, who had invited him to host a religious congregation in the state. Shastri stated that he would be back in Assam soon to plan an event in the land of Ma Kamakhya. He said that the purpose of the event is to awaken the Sanatani culture in the state, and he has been invited by the Chief Minister for this purpose.

According to reports, the Bageshwar Dham Sarkar stated that Sarma took the blessings of Dhirendra Krishna Shastri for the progress and welfare of the people of the North East. Furthermore, Shastri visited the Kamakhya temple in the city to offer prayers on the first day of the Hindu New Year.

However, Shastri's statement that India is already a Hindu Rashtra has raised eyebrows, as India is officially a secular country with a diverse population of various religions. Shastri's comments could be seen as promoting a Hindu nationalist agenda and potentially inciting communal tensions.

It is worth noting that Assam has a complex history of religious conflicts, particularly between Hindus and Muslims. The state has also been dealing with issues of illegal immigration from Bangladesh, which has added to the existing communal tensions.
