| IMD Forecasts Moderate Rainfall With Chances Of Thunderstorms In Assam Over The Next 5 Days. |
Guwahati: According to the Indian Metrological Department (IMD), moderate rainfall is expected to occur over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, and Manipur during the next five days. Heavy rainfalls are very likely to occur over Arunachal Pradesh on 21 and 22 February. Meanwhile, Sikkim and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal will also witness rainfall for the next three days. However, thundershowers are predicted over Assam and Meghalaya from 21 to 23 February.
The official stated that light to moderate scattered to widespread rainfall is very likely over Arunachal Pradesh and light isolated to scattered rainfall is expected over Assam, Meghalaya, and Nagaland and Manipur during the next five days due to southwesterly winds from the Bay of Bengal over the Northeastern States at lower tropospheric levels.
A Western Disturbance, in the form of a trough in middle tropospheric westerlies running roughly along Longitude 65°E and north of Latitude 30°N, and an induced cyclonic circulation lie over Punjab and adjoining north Pakistan in lower tropospheric levels, as per the official.
Moderate scattered to fairly widespread rainfall/snowfall is very likely over the Western Himalayan Region during the next 24 hours, followed by light isolated rainfall or snowfall in the subsequent 24 hours, due to the aforementioned Western Disturbance.
