| Assam Police Intercept Vehicle Carrying Suspected Heroin |
Guwahati: On March 22, Assam Police carried out a search operation against the illegal drug trade in the Assam-Mizoram border area. The operation was led by Karimganj Superintendent of Police Partha Pratim Das. The police intercepted a vehicle with registration number AS/11/EC/2082 in the Bhetairband area under the Ratabari police station. Upon searching the vehicle, the police discovered a total of 121 soaps containing one-and-a-half kilograms of suspected heroin.
As a result of this operation, two individuals were arrested and identified as Abdul Kalam and Saju Mohammed. The estimated market value of the seized heroin was found to be around Rs 12 crore. Presently, the police are investigating the two suspects to determine their connection to the illegal drug trade.
The discovery of the heroin in the border area highlights the ongoing efforts by the Assam Police to combat the illegal drug trade.
