Guwahati: On March 22, officials from the vigilance and anti-corruption department caught Indrajit Bora, who is the chief engineer of the Guwahati Municipal Corporation, red-handed while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 4000 from a complainant. It is reported that the complainant had approached the vigilance department with a complaint against Bora for demanding a bribe in exchange for expediting a project related to the Guwahati Municipal Corporation.
The vigilance department, after verifying the authenticity of the complaint, laid a trap to catch Bora in the act of accepting the bribe. They caught him red-handed, and he was immediately taken into custody. The investigation is still ongoing, and more information is expected to be revealed as the case progresses.
Bribery and corruption are serious offenses that undermine the integrity of institutions and hurt the common people who rely on these institutions for their daily needs.
