| Akhil Gogoi Demands Immediate Release of Manish Sisodia and Condemns BJP's Autocratic Rule |
Guwahati: On February 26, Delhi's Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with alleged corruption in the now-withdrawn liquor policy of Delhi. This prompted a swift reaction from Sibsagar MLA Akhil Gogoi, who condemned the arrest and demanded Sisodia's immediate release. Gogoi accused the BJP of trying to silence opposition voices and suppress dissent by arresting their leaders on various pretexts.
Gogoi appealed to all opposition parties in the country to unite and rise up against the fascist policies of the BJP. He said that the BJP is the most corrupt party in the country and accused them of trying to call the leaders of other parties corrupt by using the police to target political opponents.
The arrest of Sisodia has triggered widespread condemnation from opposition parties, who have accused the BJP of misusing the CBI to target their leaders. The BJP has denied the allegations and said that the CBI is acting independently.
Meanwhile, the police have made elaborate security arrangements in Delhi to maintain law and order. Several blockades and checkpoints have been set up, and police teams have been deployed outside Sisodia's house and the CBI office. This follows a protest by the Aam Aadmi Party earlier in the day, which was broken up and several leaders and workers were detained. It is not yet known whether another protest will be held in response to Sisodia's arrest.
