| Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati May host Two IPL Matches in 2023 |
Guwahati: The Barsapara Stadium in Assam, India is expected to host a minimum of two games of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2023. This news comes after negotiations between the Assam Cricket Association (ACA) and the Rajasthan management team. While the matches have been tentatively scheduled for April 8th and 10th, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has yet to officially approve the hosting of these games.
Taranga Gogoi, the President of the ACA, has confirmed that talks with the Rajasthan management team are going smoothly. He has also stated that the ACA has requested that two matches be held in Guwahati, Assam on March 8th and 10th. This request has been made to the BCCI, and it remains to be seen if they will grant approval for these games.
It is worth noting that the COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on the IPL in the past. In 2020, Guwahati was selected to host three IPL games for the Rajasthan Royals, but these were canceled due to the pandemic. Given the current situation, it remains to be seen whether the 2023 IPL will be affected by COVID-19 or if the games will go ahead as planned.
