| Assam Police Crack Down on Major Fake Passport Racket in Hojai |
Guwahati: On April 1, Assam Police busted a major fake passport racket in the Hojai district of Assam, India. The police arrested three individuals, including a passport official and two brokers, who were allegedly involved in the operation of the racket.
The arrested persons have been identified as Jyotish Prakash, who worked as a passport official, and Imdadul Islam and Zakir Hussain, who worked as brokers. They were arrested from a small shop near the Dhubri Passport Office, where the racket was being operated from. The police also confiscated a number of objectionable documents during the operation.
This incident highlights the issue of fake passport rackets in India, which pose a serious threat to national security. The use of fake passports can allow individuals to travel across borders undetected, making it easier for them to engage in criminal activities such as terrorism, smuggling, and human trafficking.
The Assam Police's swift action in busting the racket and arresting those involved sends a strong message to others who may be involved in such illegal activities. It is also a reminder of the need for stricter measures to be put in place to prevent the operation of fake passport rackets and ensure the safety and security of citizens.
