Drone Ban in Guwahati Ahead of PM Modi's Visit to Northeast

Guwahati: India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to attend the swearing-in ceremonies of the newly elected Chief Ministers in Nagaland, Meghalaya, and Tripura. The Prime Minister will first travel to Nagaland on March 7 to attend the swearing-in ceremony of the Neiphiu Rio-led NDPP government, followed by a visit to Shillong to attend the Conrad Sangma-led NPP government ceremony. From Shillong, the Prime Minister is expected to land in Guwahati and head towards Tripura on March 8. The Union Home Minister Amit Shah is also likely to accompany the Prime Minister to the oath-taking ceremonies in the northeastern states.

In Nagaland, Neiphiu Rio, the longest-serving Chief Minister of the state, is all set to retain his office for the fifth consecutive term after winning from the Northern Angami-II seat. The ruling NDPP-BJP alliance retained power in Nagaland with 37 seats in the 60-member assembly.

In Tripura, the BJP-IPFT alliance won 33 seats out of the total 60, while the Congress managed to win just 3 seats. As a result, Manik Saha will continue as the Chief Minister of Tripura for the second consecutive term.

In Meghalaya, the National People's Party (NPP) failed to secure a majority and will now form a coalition government with the BJP. Conrad Sangma, the leader of NPP, will be sworn-in as the Chief Minister of Meghalaya on Tuesday.

As the Prime Minister gears up for his visit to the Northeast, the Additional District Magistrate of Kamrup Metro, Guwahati has issued a ban on drones and flying activities in the city on March 7 and 8. This security measure is put in place to ensure that the visit proceeds smoothly without any untoward incident.

The ban on drones and flying activities will be enforced during the Prime Minister's visit to Guwahati on March 7 and 8, coinciding with his trip to the northeastern states. This is a crucial event for the BJP-led government, as the party won significant victories in the recent assembly elections in the region. The ban on drones and flying activities highlights the importance of security measures being taken to ensure the safety of the Prime Minister and other important dignitaries during their visit to the Northeast.
