Guwahati: The situation in Baghpat, specifically in Juria under the Nagaon district, remains tense as a result of a conflict between forest officials and evicted residents. Apparently, the forest officials attempted to establish a forest camp inside a Lower Primary school, which the evicted people strongly objected to.

The situation escalated when security officials and paramilitary forces arrived at the site to disperse the crowd. A scuffle broke out between the security officials and the evicted people, who demanded a proper settlement from the authorities. The security officials found it difficult to control the situation, which eventually led to them using lathi charge to disperse the crowd.

As per reports, the Lower Primary school in Baghpat was the only building that had not been demolished. However, the forest officials allegedly set up their camp inside the school, leading to the conflict with the evicted residents. The tense situation remains unresolved, and it is unclear how the authorities plan to proceed with the issue.
