A businessman was robbed at knifepoint in Bihpuria, Lakhimpur, by five suspects riding bicycles and cars. The robbers fled with Rs 2.5 lakh in cash, and another incident of robbery occurred on the same night in Bidhanpalli New Colony, Kokrajhar.

Guwahati: On March 2, a businessman in Bihpuria, Lakhimpur, was robbed at knifepoint by a group of five suspects who were riding bicycles and cars. The incident happened near the Trinayan Temple in the Amguri neighbourhood. The victim, identified as Sujit Paul, is said to be the owner of a cosmetics company. He had just finished his weekly collection in the neighbourhoods of Laluk and Bangalmara and was on his way back to Bihpuria when the robbers chased him in a car and a two-wheeled vehicle.

According to the victim's statement to the media, the robbers stopped his car by placing another four-wheeled vehicle in the middle of the street. They then proceeded to rob him of Rs 2.5 lakh in cash and fled the scene. The victim reported the incident to the police, who arrived at the scene and launched an investigation.

In another incident that happened on the same night, a couple was robbed in Bidhanpalli New Colony, Kokrajhar. The victims, Ranjit Mandal and Jayshree Mandal, were allegedly sedated by their house helper, who then stole their cash and gold jewellery. The couple is currently receiving medical attention in Kokrajhar, while the housekeeper, Sandhya Das, is missing. A complaint has been filed with the police regarding the incident.

Such incidents of robbery and theft are a cause for concern and highlight the need for increased security measures in the affected areas. It is important that the police take swift action to apprehend the suspects and bring them to justice. Meanwhile, people need to be cautious and vigilant while travelling or staying in these areas.
