| Assam Government Announces Recruitment for 42,000 Job Vacancies |
Guwahati: The Assam government has announced that it will be filling 42,000 job vacancies across various departments in the state. This move is part of the government's larger goal of creating 100,000 job opportunities for the people of Assam. The recruitment drive was announced during a meeting of the Grade III & IV Recruitment Commission, chaired by Himanta Biswa Sarma on March 29.
State finance minister Ajanta Neog had earlier stated that the government was taking necessary measures to offer 100,000 government jobs, with at least 40,000 appointments to be made in May. She also stated that recruitment for an additional 40,000 positions had already taken place, with plans to fill the remaining vacancies soon.
However, opposition leaders have criticized the government's recruitment figures and accused them of misleading the public. Independent legislator Akhil Gogoi claimed that the same candidates had been selected for various positions, while the BJP, which promised to create 100,000 government jobs in one year, has not been able to fulfill its promise despite being in power for almost two years. CPI(M) legislator Manoranj Talukdar also expressed dissatisfaction with the government's progress towards job creation.
The government has stated that the recruitment process will be carried out in a phased manner, with appointments being made once the recruitment process is complete. The move is aimed at providing job opportunities for the unemployed youth in the state and improving the overall economic situation of Assam.
