The perpetrator took advantage of the empty house to carry out the crime. The victim later disclosed the incident to her grandmother, who had arrived to check on a deserted cow. News of the occurrence spread rapidly, causing tension in the region.
The rapist's family lodged a First Information Report (FIR) at the Mornai police station, and an investigation was launched based on this report. Purna Roy was finally captured after hiding.
