Police attempted to arrest a wanted dacoit in the Udalguri district of Assam but ended up killing him in an exchange of fire. Upon seeing the police, the suspect allegedly opened fire, prompting the police to retaliate. During the exchange of fire, the dacoit, identified as Kinaram Boro, sustained injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment. However, he succumbed to his injuries and was declared dead.
Two police officers, a sub-inspector and a constable, were also injured in the incident and were sent to Udalguri for better medical treatment. Upon searching the area, the police recovered a pistol and live cartridges from the scene.
It is not uncommon for police to encounter armed resistance while attempting to apprehend wanted criminals, particularly in cases where the suspects have a history of violence. The police are trained to respond with force when necessary to protect themselves and the public from harm.
In a separate incident on Sunday, another suspected dacoit, Sanju Jaiswal, was shot and killed by police in the Charaideo district of the state. According to officials, Jaiswal attempted to flee on a motorcycle upon spotting the police team, prompting the officers to open fire. These incidents highlight the dangers that law enforcement officials face in carrying out their duties to maintain law and order in society.
