WA NorthEast: During a rally in Tura, Meghalaya, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his concerns over the lack of development in the state despite receiving a substantial budget in the past years. He said that despite the state receiving a heavy budget, he has heard from the people that the funds have not been used in road infrastructure, schools/colleges, or hospitals. He asked where the money has gone and expressed disappointment that the common people have not benefited from the development.

PM Modi claimed that the youth in Meghalaya are complaining that there are no job opportunities and where there are jobs, there is corruption. He also criticized the previous government for using Meghalaya as an ATM and not working towards the development of the state. He stated that the BJP government has brought about positive changes in Meghalaya and the northeast region in the last 9 years.

The Prime Minister also emphasized the BJP's commitment towards the welfare and development of the tribal people in the northeast. He said that the BJP government has always promoted the tribal culture and its music in the state. He also shared that he made the country aware of Tirot Sing, one of the chiefs of the Khasi people in the early 19th century.

PM Modi expressed his confidence that the BJP will form a strong and people-centric government in Meghalaya. He also took a jibe at the Congress party's anti-BJP slogans, saying that the voice of the people is saying "Modi tera kamal khilega" (Modi, your lotus will bloom), rather than the "Modi teri kabar khudegi" (Modi, your grave will be dug) chants by the opposition party.
