WA Tech: A partnership between Vedanta and Foxconn has selected the Dholera Special Investment Region near Ahmedabad for its semiconductor and display manufacturing facility, according to a senior official from the Gujarat government.
The joint venture previously signed an MoU with the state government to invest INR1.54tn ($20.6bn) to set up India's first semiconductor facility.
The project is expected to create 100,000 job opportunities and will likely receive subsidies and incentives such as zero stamp duty on land purchases and subsidised water and electricity, as per the Gujarat Semiconductor Policy 2022-27.
