| Assam Chief Minister Announces New Policy to Resolve land Ownership and Disputes |
Guwahati: Mission Basundhara 2.0 is a policy designed to provide land pattas to genuine beneficiaries in Assam while also resolving land ownership and dispute issues. The policy focuses exclusively on the benefit of indigenous people of Assam, and the government is committed to taking action against corrupt officials.
The policy aims to provide land pattas to genuine landowners or beneficiaries, ensuring that forest land or land used for rubber or tea plantations will not be given. This means that only those who legitimately own or use the land will benefit from the policy, not dalals or encroachers. Tribal people will be given 50 bighas of land, and PGR & VGR land will be provided in the future.
To ensure the policy's success, the government has implemented a system in which circle officers and LAC members will be responsible for the necessary work. This will ensure that the policy is implemented effectively and efficiently.
The policy also prohibits encroachment on government land and ensures that government and cooperative land will not be allotted for seed or agricultural farming. The policy will save forest, government, and critical land.
The government has already received 6 lakh applications, demonstrating the demand for the policy. The government is committed to resolving all land disputes in Assam under Mission Basundhara 2.0. This policy's success will not only benefit genuine landowners and beneficiaries but also prevent land encroachment, thereby preserving the natural resources and protecting the environment.
