| Massive Fire at Hatigaon, Guwahati Destroys 30 Houses and Leaves 150 Families Homeless |
Guwahati: On Thursday night, a significant fire incident occurred in Guwahati. The fire reportedly destroyed at least 30 houses on Ajanta Path in the Hatigaon area. The incident happened around 10:15 pm, and the exact cause of the fire has not yet been ascertained. However, local residents suspect that the fire might have been caused by a short circuit.
Fortunately, there were no casualties reported from the incident. Nevertheless, the fire caused extensive damage to properties worth several lakhs. As a result, approximately 150 families were left homeless, adding to the already rising number of displaced families due to natural disasters and other incidents in the area.
The authorities acted promptly by sending 15 fire tenders to the spot, and firefighters struggled for over three hours to put out the blaze. However, the fire spread quickly, causing significant damage before it could be contained.
On Monday night, another fire broke out in the Bamunimaidan area of Guwahati, causing extensive damage to properties worth lakhs in Robin Chowdhury's house. The blaze started from an earthen lamp that was lit in the temple area of the house, according to sources.
These incidents highlight the need for better safety measures and awareness in the area, especially during the dry season, where the risk of fire incidents increases due to hot and dry weather. The authorities should take steps to prevent such incidents from happening in the future and provide support to those affected by the fires.
