Supporters of Amritpal Singh and Khalistan pull down the Indian Flag at the Indian High Commission in London

WA National: The Indian government has expressed its displeasure and lodged a protest with the US government regarding an act of vandalism at its Consulate in San Francisco, which was similar to an incident in London where a group of people vandalized the Indian High Commission and chanted pro-Khalistan slogans. During a meeting with the US Charge d’Affaires in New Delhi, India reminded the US of its obligation to protect diplomatic representation and requested appropriate measures to prevent such incidents from happening again. The Indian Embassy in Washington DC also conveyed the same concerns to the US State Department.

According to reports, a group of pro-Khalistan protesters attacked and damaged the Indian Consulate in San Francisco, raising pro-Khalistan slogans and installing two "Khalistani flags" inside the premises. In response to the incident in London, security has been strengthened around the Indian High Commission, and one person has been detained in connection with the flag removal. Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra has requested that the UK arrest and prosecute those involved in the incident.

The incident in London and San Francisco has sparked concern over the safety and security of Indian diplomatic missions abroad. The Indian government has reiterated the need for all countries to fulfill their obligations under the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, which provides for the inviolability of diplomatic premises and the obligation to protect them.

UK Foreign Office minister Lord Tariq Ahmad and London Mayor Sadiq Khan have both condemned the incident in London, and Scotland Yard has launched an investigation and arrested one person on suspicion of violent disorder. The US government has not yet issued a statement regarding the incident in San Francisco.
